Ryan acquires the assets of Zeeland Horizontal Inc., a private horizontal and directional drilling company.

1997
January
Ryan acquired the assets and business of Directional Technologies, Inc. (DTI) of Lafayette, Louisiana, establishing its USA base for horizontal and directional drilling.

September
Ryan acquires IDL, Inc. a Houston-based hardware and software developer, providing the company with the base technology for Tru Vu®PRO.

1999
November
Ryan completes the acquisition of the directional drilling business and assets of Whipstock Systems Inc. of Calgary, Alberta.

2001
January

Ryan acquires the business and operating assets, excluding working capital, of Smith Services, Directional Group, a business unit of Smith International, Inc.

2002
August
Nabors acquires Ryan Energy Technologies.
